Join Girls’ Club and New York-based artist Lisa Sanditz for an artist workshop and public artist talk introducing her work, her creative processes, techniques and presenting ongoing projects.
Sanditz’s paintings obsess over peculiar features in the post-industrial American landscape such as circular farms, shopping malls, trees halved by power lines. She zeroes in on wayward sites and events that epitomize environmental and cultural missteps, strange overlaps of nature and commerce, convergences that arise from opportunism, tourism, waste, scarcity and nostalgia. Her works are featured in the current exhibition The Moment. The Backdrop. The Persona.
The Sublime has long been associated with the American Landscape. Traditionally linked to the wilderness, it can also be found right in your own back yard – when the light is beautiful, or the season is changing, or the high-rise condo is magnificently evermore skyward.
