Broward County Cultural Division Wins National Award for Website
Broward County Cultural Division is the recipient of a national Award of Excellence from the National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO) for the design of its new website. For more than three decades, NACIO’s annual Awards of Excellence program has recognized the best works of county public information officers and state association of counties’ communications staff. The competition honors a variety of communications projects that include public relations campaigns, brochures and publications, articles and press releases, videos and Internet/electronic innovations.
The Broward Cultural Division website is a user-friendly, wealthy resource for artists, cultural organizations, residents and visitors; and includes information about funding, public art, calls to artists, arts education, publications, arts events and workshops. The home page features portals, directed at specialized groups such as artists and arts organizations, which provide easy navigation. The site also features an extensive Cultural Directory, Cultural Quarterly fine arts magazine, Arts in Education Directory for teaching artists, and a link to ArtsCalendar.com, South Florida’s guide to arts and culture.

Broward County Cultural Division enhances the cultural environment of Broward County through the development of the arts. More than 1.7 million residents, 11 million visitors, 10,000 artists, 575 not-for-profit cultural organizations and 31 municipalities are beneficiaries of the services, technical assistance and incentive funding through this government mandated, local arts agency.
The National Association of County Information Officers was formed in 1966 to bring together communications professionals who wanted to share and exchange information with other county public information officers (PIOs) across the United States. NACIO remains dedicated to improving the professional capabilities of its members through an active listserv, training webinars, workshops at national conferences and other means. As an active affiliate of the National Association of Counties (NACo), NACIO works to promote the value of professional PIOs to county governments and also to promote a better understanding amongst the general public of the roles and responsibilities of county government.
