Be Inspired! Call for submissions at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale
Be Inspired! at the MoA|FL
The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale is pleased to host SHARK, on view through January 6, 2013. Organized by the Museum of Art in association with Nova Southeastern University’s Oceanographic Center, SHARK takes visitors on a journey through over 70 artists’ perspectives on these fascinating creatures – from predator, to victim, to pop culture icon. Guest curated by acclaimed wildlife artist, author and environmentalist Richard Ellis, this multi-media exhibition features drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, and video. As part of an annual effort to further engage the Museum’s patrons, we invite you to take your time viewing SHARK and to then share with us your response to the exhibition in the form of written word or work of art.
Curated and organized by All Together Now, the Museum’s dynamic gathering of young adults with an interest in art and design.
How to Submit Your Work:
1. Visit the SHARK exhibition.
2. Create your artistic response inspired by the exhibition and complete the entry form; partially completed forms will not be accepted.
3. Do not send your artwork to the Museum. Please email a hi-res image of your work to [email protected], in addition to your entry form. Written responses (poems, etc.) may be emailed as a Word Document or PDF. Any work emailed without a fully completed entry form will not be accepted. Deadline is August 20th, 2012. No more than two entries per person.
4. All responses will be uploaded to the ‘Be Inspired at MoA|FL’ Facebook page, www.facebook.com/BeInspiredProject, where fans and friends will have the opportunity to vote for their favorites. The works that best represent the scope of the project will be selected for an exhibition within the Museum’s galleries (Sept. 8-30, 2012), at which time you will be contacted to make arrangements to drop-off your work. Works that rank the highest on the Be Inspired! Facebook page will be given special consideration during the jury process.
5. An opening reception will be held on September 15th at the Museum, in conjunction with the annual juried student exhibition. All work will be returned after the close of the Be Inspired! exhibition.
