Girls' Club presents an informal summer series offering professional development support, discussion and resources for artists and arts professionals. Each session is held on Fridays, Noon-2pm and will revolve around different topics that affect artists and their practice.

Sessions are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted. RSVP in advance is required to secure your spot.

Hurricane Ready
Friday, September 1, Noon

Join Girls' Club for a discussion about prepping art and artists spaces for South Florida's wet season. Hurricane preparedness, flood precautions and other topics will be discussed as we share tools, tips and best practices for securing your space against flood and wind storm damage. This session will include a discussion between Girls' Club director Sarah Michelle Rupert and LogicArt Miami founder Leo Valencia, moderated by Tayina Deravile, and ample time for audience questions and discussion.

Installation Ready
Friday, September 8, Noon

This session includes an introduction and basic overview of best art installation and handling practices with artist and founder of In Bloom Studio Luke Jenkins. Learn the basic principles and techniques necessary to prepare your artwork for installation in offices, homes or public spaces; how to best prepare your work for travel with third party shippers, and what tools, hardware and supplies will work best for your practice.

Business Ready

As an artist, designer, writer, curator, or other creative, the management of your practice may benefit as a formal business entity - the most common are LLCs and 501c3 nonprofits. This session looks at the differences, advantages and disadvantages of running an art business as a Limited Liability Company, LLC, or a 501c3 Nonprofit Corporation with Girls' Club director Sarah Michelle Rupert and Founder, CEO, & Managing Partner of Shraybman Law Jessica Shraybman.

Headshot Ready**
Friday, September 29, Noon

Artists and arts professionals are invited to join us for a rapid-fire portrait session with photographer Oriol Tarridas to help equipment local creatives with professional headshots to use on social media, artist and affiliate websites, and other career opportunities. Headshots and artist portraits are an important part of an artists toolkit and are absolutely necessary for museums, galleries, and other arts organizations to tell people about the amazing artwork, exhibits, programs, talks, and events that they present.
