LegalArt’s Artist Residency is a hybrid, multi-disciplinary program that empowers Miami’s cultural producers and sustains the city’s position as a hotbed for contemporary art by infusing the community with artists and arts professionals from around the globe. In an effort to create a new model of cultural exchange in a city popular for its beaches, night life, and art fairs, the residency program offers artists the first, formal live/work environment in Miami. The primary focus of the residency program is two-fold: 1) provide long-term, affordable live/work space for Miami artists and 2) offer national/international artists and arts professionals year-round opportunities to research and respond to issues at stake in South Florida.
Local Residency | Artists of all disciplines currently living in Miami, Florida are eligible to apply for LegalArt’s Local Residency. Five artists are selected to live and work in custom-designed studios in LegalArt’s building for approximately 12 months, starting in February 2013.

Visiting Residency | National and international cultural producers – artists, curators, art writers, scholars, museum professionals, etc. – are invited to apply to the LegalArt residency in Miami for up to three months. taking a cross-disciplinary approach to research and production, the program is strategically designed to facilitate collaboration and cross-pollination of diverse ideas and perspectives among residents.
