CALL FOR PARTICIPATION:
FIGMENT NYC 2012 JUNE 9-10 ON GOVERNORS ISLAND

Registration for the FIGMENT 2012 NYC Weekend is officially open!

SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT NOW!

Founded in 2007 on New York City’s Governors Island, what began as a few thousand enthusiasts enjoying a handful of participatory art projects on a sunny July afternoon has ballooned into a multi-day, multi-city event that drew over 30,000 participants in NYC, Jackson, Detroit, and Boston in 2011. In 2012, FIGMENT seeks to continue its mission to offer free, inclusive and participatory art to our entire community, removing the barriers of museum and gallery walls and entrance fees and blurring the lines between those who create and those who enjoy art. This year, FIGMENT NYC will take place during the weekend of June 9-10.

We are excited to announce FIGMENT is now open for art project submissions for the NYC 2012 Weekend!

Before you submit, please take a moment to read the 2012 NYC Weekend Tips and Tricks Guide – to give you the necessary guidelines to submit your project as FIGMENT-worthy as possible! The Guide contains practical installation and de-installation tips, rules of engagement and construction limitations on Governors Island, a list of things you should absolutely bring to the island, a list of things you absolutely CANNOT bring to the island, and the 11 Principles of FIGMENT.

To Submit a Proposal:

Submit your art project for FIGMENT Weekend by 11:59PM ET on May 1, 2012, by filling out the entry form. The earlier you submit your project, the more personal attention you will get from our Curatorial Team! So please don’t wait until May 1 to fill out the form!
